Iranian Robocop Team Denied U.S. Visa
The team of Helli High School was denied visas because the team members were not old enough to take part in the contests, said the principal of the school, Mr. Ja'fari.
According to Ja'fari, Helli high school's team was the only school team to be accepted among all world university teams and the U.S. by denying them visas is preventing Iranians to appear in high level scientific arenas.
In the meantime, BBC Radio said in a report that the Iranian kung fu toa team was not participating in the world kung fu toa competitions in the United States because the American Immigration Office officials would fingerprint them.
Talking to the BBC, Parviz Zahedi said that the U.S. is always trying to create obstacles on the way of representatives of the Islamic Republic in the U.S..
"When the national team of a country is invited to another country, the host does not have the right to select among the members of the team or to cause them problems in anyway. This is a right of our country not to accept such mistreatment and stand against such behaviors," he added.
He underlined that it is not only kung fu toa team of Iran which does not accept such behavior by the U.S. officials adding that none of Iranian sports delegations would accept such an insult.
He further said that according to international laws no objection should be made toward entrance of the national team of a country to the host country holding particular sporting events.
